What is Good Divorce Week?
This week is “Good Divorce Week,” this is when focus is placed upon family law professionals to promote Resolution’s Code of Practice. This week gives professionals the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to the values and keeping the Code at the forefront of their mind and better support for families going through a divorce or separation.
Who is Resolution and what is their Code of Practice?
Resolution is an organisation of over 6,500 family law professionals, including solicitors, financial advisors, mediators, and other specialists in this field.
Their Code of Practice is a set of guiding principles aimed at improving outcomes for families and children post-divorce in a non-confrontational way, including:
- Acting with honestly, integrity and objectivity.
- Minimising conflict, avoiding inflammatory language.
- Putting children’s best interests first.
- Treating everyone with respect and dignity.
- Clarifying long-term financial and emotional impacts of decisions.
